Job Responsibilities

We are now looking for hourly-paid meal assistants and cooks for the Staffing Unit of Internal Service for Preschools and Primary Schools.

At the City of Gothenburg, we focus on sustainability and the environment. This means a working method that includes environmental meals, vegetarian cooking, waste management, purchasing organic food, and adapting to the seasons.

As an hourly-paid employee, you will work in various establishments, and the tasks may therefore vary. The work includes tasks related to cooking, such as preparation and salad preparation as well as serving delicious and nutritious meals, which also includes special diets. Your tasks also include dishwashing, post-work, cleaning, and waste management. Heavy lifting occurs in the kitchen environment. With us, you contribute to ensuring that students and staff receive good and nutritious food as well as a pleasant dining experience. Being a substitute in our staffing unit means:

that you work in various preschools and schools within the City of Gothenburg
that you replace regular staff during short-term absences
that you enter the times you can work in our booking system Time Care Pool and get booked as needed
that your working hours may be scheduled sometime between 06:00 and 15:30 Monday to Friday

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a cook or meal assistant education or other training that the employer deems equivalent. Previous experience of working in a kitchen environment is an advantage. If you have experience working in large kitchens and/or reception kitchens, that is particularly advantageous.

Since food safety and hygiene are of great importance to the operation, you should have knowledge and experience in special diets, waste management, allergies, and self-control.

Therefore, it is important that you are service-oriented, meticulous, and value a hygienic working environment. You can work independently and are keen to maintain good dialogue with both guests and clients. You have the interest, willingness, and ability to help others, and you strive to find solutions to the challenges that may arise in our kitchens. You see value in working sustainably and environmentally consciously. Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form is a prerequisite for this role. You are unpretentious and have a very good ability to collaborate with your colleagues. The position requires you to be flexible and able to step in at short notice.
